European companies visit Colombia to promote partnerships in the EU-LAC Earth observation and technology sector

Bogotá was the meeting point for a new chapter in cooperation between Latin America and the Caribbean and the European Union. On 19 and 20 November, as part of the LATSAT 2025 conference, a business matchmaking event was held, bringing together 13 companies from both regions with the aim of exchanging experiences, identifying synergies, and exploring opportunities for collaboration in the fields of space, technology and data analysis. Unlike last year, when Latin American companies travelled to the Netherlands for the European Space Agency (ESA) Industry Space Days conference, this time it was European start-ups and companies which visited Bogotá, Colombia, to connect with key players in the Latin American ecosystem. The meeting was facilitated by the CopernicusLAC Panama Centre as part of its roadmap to strengthen the use of Copernicus satellite data and promote private sector coordination between the two regions.

A space for creating technological alliances

During the two days in Bogotá, companies participated in bilateral meetings, presentations, and working groups aimed at exploring joint project opportunities in areas such as Earth Observation, satellite solutions, geospatial analytics, sustainability, smart agriculture and data-based services.

The main objective was to facilitate the creation of strategic alliances which would allow companies to take advantage of both European infrastructure and expertise in space and the growing dynamism and innovation of Latin American companies.

Another step forward for EU-LAC cooperation

The event reaffirms the CopernicusLAC Panama Centre’s commitment to consolidating a regional stakeholders network which promotes the uptake of Copernicus data for public and private applications. This initiative is part of a broader strategy which seeks to strengthen technology transfer, promote new business models, and accelerate data-driven solutions to address common challenges in both regions.

The active participation of companies from diverse sectors demonstrates the growing interest in harnessing the potential of satellite information to drive sustainable development, improve competitiveness, and open up new opportunities in the space economy.
