First Hackathon of the CopernicusLAC Panama Centre
The CopernicusLAC Panama Center is organising its first online hackathon from 11-30 October 2024 under the theme of Copernicus Earth Observation (EO) data for disaster risk reduction (DRR) in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The event will foster innovation, strengthen capacities, promote collaboration and raise awareness of the importance of Copernicus EO data in addressing regional environmental and socio-economic challenges. With cash prizes for the best solutions and mentoring opportunities throughout the event, participants will engage in 3 thematic challenges:
- Ensuring food production and distribution
- Improving forecasting and preparedness for future disasters
- Preserving biodiversity and endangered habitats
The event will be held in Spanish and there is no registration fee to participate. Students and young professionals who are residents or citizens of LAC countries are especially invited to apply, although participants from all backgrounds and countries are welcome.
