The CopernicusLAC Panama Centre will hold its next online training course between 9 and 13 March 2026. The training will consist of two modules covering the topics ‘Remote sensing applied to disaster risks’ and ‘Remote sensing applications for environmental protection’.
The training will be conducted in Spanish, is free of charge, and is open to all interested participants.
The preliminary training programme will cover the following topics:
- Remote sensing applications for environmental protection
In the ever-evolving landscape of environmental challenges, this course seeks to equip participants with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills in Earth Observation (EO). This comprehensive programme is designed to foster a deep understanding of the critical role that Earth Observation plays in protecting the environment. Participants will explore the use of Copernicus data and tools to monitor, analyse and address pressing environmental issues, enabling them to contribute significantly to sustainable solutions. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical case studies, the course aims to equip individuals with the expertise to leverage EO technologies for informed decision-making and proactive environmental management.
- Remote sensing applied to disaster risk reduction
This course is designed to train participants in advanced Earth observation techniques, providing them with the essential tools to effectively mitigate and respond to disasters. Through exploring the various applications of Copernicus data, participants will acquire skills in monitoring and assessing potential risks, as well as in improving early warning systems and disaster resilience strategies. This course will provide participants with a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Earth observation for disaster risk reduction, advanced monitoring techniques and practical applications, fostering a comprehensive understanding of how Earth observation can improve disaster preparedness and response efforts.
