As part of the ESA Industry Space Days (ISD) 2026, the CopernicusLAC Panama Centre successfully hosted its Matchmaking activity for the third consecutive year, consolidating its position as a key player in connecting and developing business opportunities and partnerships between the private sectors of the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean, while boosting technological innovation.  

This activity was supported by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA), reaffirming the commitment of the European Union’s Global Gateway strategy to foster sustainable development, the use of Earth observation, and the integration of international space sector value chains. 

A strategic space for bilateral connection 

Held in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, during the opening day of ISD 2026, the Matchmaking activity took place as a side event designed to maximise direct contact between LAC entities and European institutions and companies. 

Throughout the session, attendees took part in: 

  • Pitching sessions: Brief presentations during which companies showcased their solutions, services, and technical capabilities to potential strategic partners and clients. 
  • 1-on-1 meetings: 10-minute matchmaking sessions to discuss specific collaborations and technology transfer. 
  • Networking space: An open interaction session to establish initial contacts and project future joint initiatives.

The participating companies

A total of 10 companies from the LAC region actively participated in this matchmaking day, covering various verticals of the space sector and satellite data analysis:

Country: Mexico

A non-profit association representing and promoting Mexico’s aerospace industry. It brings together manufacturers, maintenance providers, research institutions, and educational organisations.

Country: Costa Rica

An agritech startup combining drone imagery, satellite data, and artificial intelligence through its AgroPix platform. It helps farmers make smarter, more sustainable decisions for tropical crops.

Country: Colombia

Managing data for territorial development with over 10 years of experience, designing and implementing data-driven solutions to strengthen spatial planning and decision-making, working alongside governments and multilateral organisations.

Country: Brazil

Developer of Latin America’s largest climate intelligence platform. Its solutions connect field, agronomic, and ESG monitoring data to optimise decision-making from smallholders to large agribusiness supply chains.

Country: Argentina

A company developing high-precision satellite solutions using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR and InSAR) technology to monitor ground movement, infrastructure stability, and environmental changes.

Country: Chile

A company combining science, data, and software development for environmental monitoring. Specialists in automating complex spatial analyses focused on ecology and climate change for both public and private sectors.

Country: Brazil

The company responsible for Brazil’s first geostationary communications satellite. It develops projects involving Earth observation, environmental monitoring, defence, and support for strategic decisions through space technology.

Country: Colombia

A company focused on developing tailor-made technological solutions combining the Internet of Things (IoT), AI, and blockchain, driving digital transformation across sectors such as agriculture, education, and smart territories.

Country: Mexico

A company dedicated to developing technologies and services to improve crop productivity and resource efficiency, combining biological inputs and scientific research to promote climate-resilient agricultural practices.

Country: Guyana

A solution provider integrating satellite imagery, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and drone data for land management, natural resource monitoring, and environmental protection, enabling informed strategic decisions.

Strengthening the interregional ecosystem

By organising this activity at the ESA ISD 2026, the CopernicusLAC Panama Centre reaffirms its mission to promote the EO ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean, facilitating access to cutting-edge technologies and creating sustainable business opportunities for the regional private sector in close collaboration with Europe.

Background information 

The activities of the CopernicusLAC Panama Regional Centre are part of the EU-LAC Digital Alliance, which is a strategic framework to promote cooperation between the European Union (EU) and the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region on digital and space issues under the umbrella of the EU Global Gateway strategy. In this context, the European Space Agency coordinates the implementation of the Centre on the basis of a Contribution Agreement with the Directorate General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) of the European Commission, and in close collaboration with the Government of Panama, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIRE), the Government Innovation Agency (AIG), and the SENACYT (National Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation).
