The CopernicusLAC Panama Centre will host its next online training from 24-28 February 2025. The training will consist of two modules covering the topics “Applications of remote sensing for disaster risk reduction” and “Remote sensing for forest fire preparedness”. The training will be held in Spanish. It is free and open to all interested participants.
Participants with no prior experience are recommended to complete Module 1, “Introduction to Earth Observation in optical and SAR”, and Module 2, “Digital Tools for Earth Observation” before the online training. These modules are available for free via Moodle on the CopernicusLAC Digital Campus.

With each daily session taking place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (Panama time), the preliminary schedule for the training is as follows:

24 February: Fundamentals of remote sensing and disaster risk reduction
25 February: Advanced disaster monitoring techniques with remote sensing
26 February: Integration and future trends in disaster risk reduction with remote sensing
Module 10: Remote sensing for forest fire preparedness
27 February: Fundamentals and applications of remote sensing for forest fires
28 February: Change detection applied to forest fires
